Drago Endorses: Thank You for Smoking

Don’t you hate when a movie comes out in theaters and you totally sleep on it, only to find out about it later from your friends that it was awesome? What’s worse than that is when you know a movie is going to be awesome and you can’t get anyone to go see it with you. Imagine this conversation, if you will:
Dude, do you want to see a movie this weekend? There’s this movie called ‘Thank You for Smoking’ that’s supposed to be really funny.
I haven’t heard of that, who’s in it?
Umm, like, Rob Lowe, Katie Holmes, William H. Macy, Adam Brody…
Who the fuck is Adam Brody?
Are you serious? He’s Seth from The O.C.
I can’t believe you watch that show, you’re such a girl. I’m going to go to happy hour and then the basketball game and then the bar. You should meet us out there after you’re done watching your fag movie and like cuddling with your boyfriend and like holding hands or whatever.
And then two years later, the same guy is asking you if you saw the aformentioned movie yet and telling you how awesome it is. Every time he sees you. And he doesn’t remember hating on it the first time. This sort of thing happens to us all the time and happened with Thank You for Smoking.
That being said, Thank You for Smoking is awesome. It is about Nick Naylor who is a lobbyist for the tobacco industry and a professional liar. He travels all around the country doing image control for big tobacco and deflating the health and morals related claims that cigarette detractors make. Other notable performances include Adam fucking Brody as a frat bro type Hollywood personal assistant, the complete opposite of Seth Cohen. They’ve got Katie Holmes as “The Hot Reporter” which shows how much things can change in a couple years, because nobody thinks she’s hot anymore. David “Whammy” Koechner plays basically the same guy as he did in Anchorman and Snakes on a Plane, but now he’s a gun lobbyist instead of a sportscaster or pilot. Oh, and Leech from X:3 plays Nick’s son.
It’s a cool movie, you should check it out.
